His skiddy seam bowling and bold strokeplay made him a useful acquisition, although he was affected by niggling injuries and rarely found much pace to help his bowling in the wickets at either Cardiff or Swansea. 
The Bajan all-rounder played in 2 Tests and 15 One Day Internationals for the West Indies, and besides playing in League and county cricket in Britain, Gibson also played in first-class cricket in South Africa, where he represented Border, Griqualand West and Gauteng. In September 2001 the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) appointed Ottis Gibson as its National Coach for the North-West England region.
